HSA Information for Employers
Contributions to an HSA can come from any source:
- Employee tax-deductible contributions (made directly to HSA)
- Employee salary-reduced contributions (see note)
- Employer pre-tax contributions (see note)
- One-time-only transfer from an IRA, Flex Spending Account or Health Reimbursement Account (if allowable by employer)
NOTE: The employer will need to contact Employee Benefit Data Services (EBDS) in order to establish an agreement to make salary-reduced or church contributions to an HSA on behalf of the employee. EBDS contact info: www.ebdsbenefits.com/eHSA, 1-800-860-EBDS.
Establishing your group billing with EBDS:
- Instruct all employees who are enrolled in the Health Saver 2600 and who would like to open a BlueAccountsm HSA, to sign up for the account through the Highmark BCBS Web site. Employees must log in and enroll online.
- Access the EBDS Web site at www.ebdsbenefits.com/eHSA and print the Single Point Billing New Group Information Sheet and Service Agreement.
- Complete the Single Point Billing New Group Information Sheet and Service Agreement and fax it to the attention of EBDS Single Point Billing at 412-394-9669. Please allow 30 days for the setup of your group.
- Upon completion of your service agreement, you will receive confirmation from EBDS that your banking arrangements are set up. You will be provided a password to access the Web site: www.ebdsbenefits.com/eHSA.
- Proceed with processing your Health Savings Contributions by following instructions on the Web site.
