HSA Information for Employers

Contributions to an HSA can come from any source:

  • Employee tax-deductible contributions (made directly to HSA)
  • Employee salary-reduced contributions (see note)
  • Employer pre-tax contributions (see note)
  • One-time-only transfer from an IRA, Flex Spending Account or Health Reimbursement Account (if allowable by employer)

NOTE: The employer will need to contact Employee Benefit Data Services (EBDS) in order to establish an agreement to make salary-reduced or church contributions to an HSA on behalf of the employee. EBDS contact info: www.ebdsbenefits.com/eHSA, 1-800-860-EBDS.
