Healthcare Reform and GuideStone

What is GuideStone doing about healthcare reform?

GuideStone is assessing the impact of the new law on the health plans we offer to churches and ministry organizations. In cooperation with other denominations, we are monitoring legislative issues while working diligently to make known to Congress the unique needs and nature of church plans.

While we anticipate that the nature and scope of this new legislation will be a key area of focus for years to come, we want you to know that GuideStone’s purpose remains unchanged — to provide benefits and services to meet your needs. You can visit our healthcare reform web page for up-to-date information on healthcare reform and its effects on GuideStone health plans.

Is GuideStone exempt from the Healthcare Reform Law?

No. GuideStone is not exempt from the provisions of the new law.

GuideStone, like many other organizations, applied for and received a Waiver of Annual Limit Requirements that allows us to continue offering a limited benefit plan in addition to our standard personal medical plans. The Health Limited Plan is available to certain individuals who would otherwise be ineligible for a GuideStone medical plan. All other GuideStone health plans continue to meet or exceed the minimum standards set by the new healthcare reform law for essential benefits coverage.
